Biography:

Van Gheluwe, son of expressionist painter Stefaan Van Gheluwe (1906-1963) is self-taught. He was first published in the early 1980s in the magazine 'Magnum'. Failing to find a larger audience, Van Gheluwe stopped doing comics altogether and turned to painting. In 2007 he returned to comics, where he has since become quite prolific. At a rate of an album a year, he has produced 'De overlevenden van Kish', 'Eridu', 'De Schim' (with writer Filip Hellemans) and short stories for the western character Viking Cowboy in anthology 'Sheriff Classics' (with Ramon Schenk).
