Editor for Lev Gleason from 1942 - 1953. Best known as editor for Crime Does Not Pay (Lev Gleason, 1942 series).

Served in prison for manslaughter in the first degree, 1958-12-02 to 1963-07-03. Plea bargained in regards to the murder of Violet Phillips committed on 26 August 1958, originally sentenced to 4 - 5 years in prison. Judge ruled heavy consumption of alcohol contributed to the murder as reason for manslaughter sentence.
Per prison index card, Wood entered the Sing Sing Prison on 1958-12-02 then transferred to Wallkill Correctional Facility on 1959-02-02. He was paroled on 1961-08-08, but was re-incarcerated at Sing Sing for a parole violation on 1962-02-19. Wood was later transferred to then Green Haven Correctional Facility on 1962-02-28 and was re-paroled on 1963-07-03. A year after being released from prison, was found murdered off the New Jersey Turnpike, believed to have been killed for failure to pay back debts owed to fellow inmates.
