Biography: Lt Col Robert G. Leffingwell (30 July 1909 - 18 October 1984) (no relation to Robert R. Leffingwell (1911-1991)) was an early cartoonist who did work for Major Malcolm Wheeler-Nicholson and Centaur. He lived in Chicago doing commercial art in the late 1920s - early 1930s. He was in NY in 1935-1936, where he did his known comics work and presumably began working for Fleischer Studios; he moved down to Miami with Fleischer in 1938 or 1939. In the early 1940s he appears to have been in Los Angeles doing work for Disney before joining the armed forces during World War II. In 1951 he was still a Major and was put in charge of the USAF TV division in Europe, when the USAF split the radio and TV division. He didn't stay with the USAF TV dept for long, moving to USAF American - French relations, and then to cartography. He did book illustrations in both the US and UK. He settled in Florida when he returned from the UK in the early -mid 1960s.
Notes: Sometimes credited as Bob Leffingwell in his animation work, but usually signed his comics work R.G. Leffingwell. Not to be confused with the Robert [R.] Leffingwell who worked on Little Joe and Little Orphan Annie.
