Biography:

Often referred to as "the father of manga", it is difficult to overstate Tezuka's influence on Japanese comics and animation. Best known as the creator of manga for children (Astro Boy, Princess Knight and Kimba the White Lion) and adults (Black Jack, Phoenix, and Buddha).

Notes:

His birth name was 治. At age 11 he found a beetle with a similar name 治虫 and adopted it as his own.
