Biography: Best known as tennis champion and member of the International Tennis Hall of Fame, Alice Marble won eighteen tennis Grand Slam championships. These included: United States Open Singles title, 1936, 1938 to 1940; The Championship, Wimbledon Singles title, 1939; The Championship, Wimbledon Doubles title, 1938 to 1939; United States Doubles title, 1937 to 1940; The Championship, Wimbledon Mixed Doubles title, 1937 to 1939; United States Mixed Doubles title, 1936, 1938 to 1940; and Wightman Cup team competition title, 1933, 1937 to 1939.

Marble also served as a spy for U.S. Intelligence in 1945, which resulted in her being shot in the back by a Nazi agent. She would recover from her injuries.

Marble worked for DC Comics in a support capacity as an associate editor on Wonder Woman features and titles, from 1941 to 1945. So also worked as writer on the Wonder Women of History feature from 1942 to 1946.
