Biography:

Messmann was the author of many comic book stories for Fawcett Publications, in the 1940s and early 50s. He was the author of 18 crime and suspense novels cited in the Revised Crime Fiction IV, including seven about men’s adventure series hero Jefferson Boone, The Handyman, and six with Ben Martin, aka The Revenger. With the pen name Jon Sharpe, he writes adult westerns, including many of the early adventures of The Trailsman books, including the first one, as well as most of the Canyon O'Grady books. He creates the distributor Smith-Mann Syndicate, in New York, later renamed as Eric Jon Associates, after his son's name. Later, John went by Jon Wessmann, or even using "Eric Jon Messmann".
