Biography:

Cummings wrote approximately 2,900 poems, two autobiographical novels, four plays, and various essays. He is associated with modernist free-form poetry. He is known for idiosyncratic syntax and use of lower-case spellings for poetic expression, though much of his work is quite traditional. Cummings wanted to be a poet from childhood and wrote poetry daily from age 8 to 22, exploring assorted forms.
