Biography:

Stuart Carothers was an early newspaper cartoonist for the Chicago Herald, and did the comics Movies of Haphazard Helen and Charlie Chaplin's Comic Capers before falling to his death out of a hotel window.

His first name is sometimes spelled Stewart, but Stuart is used in census records.
