Biography:

Ned Pines was the publisher of the Pines grouping of companies, known as Standard Publications, Better Publications, Thrilling, Nedor, Pines, and Popular Library.

Pines started Standard in 1932 publishing pulp magazines and from 1939 to 1951, was co-owner/publisher/executive director of the comic book line. He began publishing in Canada under Better name in 1948.

Notes:

Pines was married to Jacquelyn Sangor from 1938 to 1959 and then to Maxine Firestone from 1967 until his death.

Ned Pines was an insurance company executive from 1949 to 1976.
